Hake and sweet potato fritters

Ingredients

  • 55g skinless and boneless hake
  • 90g sweet potato
  • 10g onion
  • 50g breadcrumbs
  • a bit of parsley
  • virgin olive oil

How to make hake and sweet potato fritters for your baby

  1. Wash and peel the sweet potato. Cut it into small cubes, so they cook quickly.
  2. Chop the onion very small. Put the onion and sweet potato in a saucepan with a little water and cook for 10 minutes. When they are ready, remove the vegetables from the saucepan and let them cool.
  3. While the sweet potato is cooling, shred the hake (raw), making sure that it does not have any bones.
  4. Put the hake, onion and sweet potato in the blender glass and blend at low power for a few seconds until you have a homogeneous mixture.
  5. Wash and chop the parsley very finely. Add it to the mixture and stir well with a fork.
  6. Now shape the fritters. Don’t make them too big because they will take longer to fry, they will take up a lot of oil and they can be raw inside (and we don’t want to give raw fish to the baby).
  7. Shape the fritters so that they are circular and a little flat (like Russian steaks) and coat them with the breadcrumbs.
  8. Fry the fritters in a pan with very hot olive oil, about 3 minutes on each side over medium heat.
  9. When they are golden, take them out of the pan and put them on a plate with absorbent paper.
  10. Wait until they are warm and your baby will be able to enjoy them. Enjoy!

Tricks and tips

  • For this recipe, the easiest thing to do is to use frozen hake fillets that are already boneless.
  • You can try making it with other white fish such as sole, whiting, sea bass, fresh cod, rooster… and even salmon. Just make sure there are no thorns left, it really is very important.
